You can begin your walk at any point along the base of the hill, or take the metro to Abbesses station and step out into the heart of Montmartre. Because all the great poets have told us the journey is more important than the destination, I recommend you start at metro Blanche (Moulin Rouge) or metro Anvers and gradually enter the "village".

HOW TO GET TO MONTMARTRE You can reach Montmartre easily by the Paris metro. Line 12 (Abbesses) and Line 2 (Anvers and Blanche) are the closest metro stations. Montmartre is located north of the city center of Paris and usually takes around 30-40 minutes to arrive via the metro.

DH obsessed. 10 years ago. Save. I think these are stairs along funicular at Montmartre. I recommend free (tips supported) walking tours with Discover Walks- especially Montmartre. The guide lead us trough small backstreets, cut trough playgrounds and small courtyards that we would never be able to discover ourselves.
